Charles Castro is a commonsense Democrat running for the NYC Council in Astoria and East Elmhurst.  He is running to give the community a choice between a rational reasoning-based thinker in contrast to an anti-public safety socialist zealot incumbent to represent us in City Government.

Castro has lived in Astoria, Queens for four decades and is an accomplished author with a long and distinguished career in law enforcement, public service, and advocacy for justice. He knows every inch of this district and the real needs of our neighborhoods. 

His heroic actions as a police sergeant and negotiator during a hostage situation earned him widespread recognition and admiration. As a whistleblower, he courageously exposed corruption and racism within the NYPD, sparking important reforms. His leadership in the Latino Officers Association lawsuit helped to ensure greater fairness and accountability within the Department.
